If you earn money through Pawshake - for example, by offering pet sitting, dog walking or boarding - you may need to declare this income when you file your taxes. As a plaform, we are required to report some basic income information to your local tax authority.
We know tax topics can be confusing, so this article explains what the DAC7 regulations mean for Pawshake sitters in the European Union.
Please note: Pawshake can’t give personal tax advice. If you’re unsure about your individual situation, it’s best to contact a local tax adviser or your national tax authority.
What Is DAC7?
DAC7 is a European Union directive, and it requires online platforms like Pawshake to collect and report certain information about the income that users earn through them.
In other words, Pawshake must share details about your earnings as a sitter and related information with the tax authority in the EU country where you live. This is a Europe-wide rule that applies to all online marketplaces, so you may see similar requirements on other platforms too.
Sharing this information doesn’t automatically mean you’ll have to pay tax on your Pawshake earnings, that depends on your personal situation. You’re still responsible for declaring your income yourself if needed.
Who does DAC7 apply to?
These reporting requirements apply to you if:
- You live in a country that is part of the European Union, and
- You completed at least one paid booking on Pawshake during the relevant calendar year.
If both apply, Pawshake is legally required to report your earnings and some personal details to your local tax authority.
What do I need to do?
If DAC7 applies in your country, Pawshake will ask you to confirm or update your tax information in your account. We’ll clearly guide you through the process and let you know what’s needed - it only takes a few minutes.
Keeping your information accurate helps us keep things transparent, safe, and compliant with the law. It also means we can process your payments correctly and without delays: no hidden stuff, just clear and reliable records.
