While we do need a few personal details about you, we do everything in our power to protect your privacy.
We need your first and last name for identification, your mobile number in order to notify you about new messages, and of course your address so you can be included in the Pawshake map.
Who can see my last name?
We need you to use your real last name, not a nickname or just initials. This is a matter of trust, identification, and it's also needed for The Pawshake Guarantee.
Your last name will not be displayed on your profile or anywhere else. Only after a pet parent has booked your services and you have confirmed the booking will your last name be displayed to them (and vice versa), though ideally you already know such details about one another at that point.
Who can see my mobile number?
SMS verification is an obligatory safety barrier for all users, so you have to complete it in order to use the Pawshake platform.
However, your number is not displayed in your profile and you are in full control about passing it on to pet parents. Once you have confirmed a booking, you can include your number in the chat whenever it feels appropriate to you.
Who can see my address?
Some pet sitters are worried about providing their address on Pawshake. This is, however, a necessity because pet parents need to be able to determine the distance between your home and theirs. This helps them figure out whether, logistically, you could be a good match for their enquiry.
Your profile will be tagged on the map in our search results, so pet parents can see your approximate location. If you offer services in your own home, your approximate location will be displayed at the bottom of your profile as well.
Your address itself isn't displayed in your profile and you are in full control about passing it on to pet parents who contact you to enquire about your services. If you are available for a request, you can include your address in a message to the pet parent whenever it feels appropriate to you.
